How To Care For Your System
We have multiple ways that you can care for your system. These include:
- Keep trees away from the Septic Tank as roots can clog pipes, damage tanks and block the absorption trenches
- Never flush foreign matter that can’t be broken down easily eg. Sanitary products, disposable nappies, synthetic wipes, plastics, kitty litter or chemicals as they will block the system
- No fats or oils down the sink – wipe fats off pots and pans and pop them in the bin
- Don’t overuse heavy cleaners– they kill off the beneficial bacteria in the tank
- Toilet deodorisers hung in the bowl best not used as they kill the bacteria we rely on in the system to treat waste
- Washing – plan to spread large washing loads over a few days to minimise the impact to your Septic system.
